⚾2023 marks Middletown Little League's 75th Anniversary season! Founded in 1948, it is the oldest Little League organization in all of New England!
On Saturday, April 29th, at 11:00 a.m., the Board of Directors will hold a commemorative celebration at Palmer Field in Middletown for our current and former players. This event is free of charge and open to the public, especially to former baseball and softball players, coaches, and volunteers of our League.
There will be a commemorative ceremony on the field at 11:00 a.m., celebrating all 300 plus of our current players, and some of our earliest players of both baseball and softball, including the original 1948 team that went all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA; and will feature city and state dignitaries, as well as our past players who found success at the Major League level. The Ceremony will be followed by a fair for children from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., and an exhibition baseball game. The American Legion Post 75 will offer concessions. Custom 75th Anniversary swag will be available for purchase.
The Board is seeking players of baseball 1957 or earlier, or softball 1978 or earlier, to invite them to participate in the commemorative ceremony as an honoree. We are also seeking historic photos and content for a commemorative program book.
Businesses are invited to purchase an ad in the program book, and are invited to contribute to the celebration in any way they may deem fit.
Please contact event Chair Sarah Shapiro at [email protected] or at 860-347-3325 with program book content, to RSVP as an honoree, or for further info.
In the event of rain, the event will be moved into the City's Rec Center located at 1 Wilderman's Way, Middletown, on the same day and at the same time. Check back to this website on the morning of April 29th for weather updates, if necessary.
Thank you to the City of Middletown, Middletown Sports Hall of Fame, and American Legion Post 75 for their collaboration on this important milestone!
See you all there!
